Our final night at The Barnacle. The club was going under, and we were paid with a bad check by the club manager. We never recovered the money from the club and the loss was nearly a breaking point for the band. We heard The Barnacle was destroyed some years later in a hurricane.

Two great shows at an old washed up/converted boat on the bay. Bruce's bass amp kept rolling across the stage because the whole boat was leaning. We stayed in a trailer on the beach.

We charged fifty cents per guest at the door. Packed the house. My notes mention some sort of "dedication"to David Mahafey and Chris in Albuquerque". I have no idea what this refers to.

Debut show for the trio. We played three hours, 9-12. Great response. More shows resulted. We had heard that Emmylou Harris used to play there. Many years later I talked with Emmylou about it, and she said there was no stage at Aliza's when she played there...just a jukebox that she stood beside with her guitar.

As a bluegrass duo. Sometimes we added an upright bass player. We played mostly a regular gig at the Villager Hotel (may have been the Four Seasons Hotel then) on top of Beech Mt., but also played the occasional firehouse, square dance/clogging events, and one very memorable party for the Carolina Caribbean Corporation where they paid us to play 'Dueling Banjos' over and over all night!
